In 1989, a friend of mine asked me if I could help her address some formal invitations using black ink and a calligraphy pen. What came out instead was
something that completely intrigued and energized me. On the page were long lines of jet black ink with subtle curves and sharp edges. As I looked down at the paper, I recognized what was to become my first piece of artwork: "Words are Just Lines on a Page". It looked like the language of music coming down from outer space. When I shared this first piece with family and friends, every single person saw and felt something different, yet very personal.
I began to get commissioned to do personal pieces for study groups, individuals and specialized bookstores. It was as if the messages that emerged were meant specifically for those individuals and no one else. To this day, when doing commissioned pieces, I only need to know the person's name and see a picture of them and the message that is only meant for them comes through in an incredibly personal, original one-of-a-kind piece. Commissioned pieces hang in homes and offices in Atlanta, Boston, Pittsburgh, Seattle, Austin, San Antonio, Washington, D.C., Buffalo and Naples, FL to name a few.
These contemporary works on paper are meant to bring silence into the mind of its viewer. If you quiet the mental noise and focus on the moment, these pieces will speak to you in the same way they brought peace to others before you. The works on this site are only a small sampling of completed pieces and range from $200 - $500USD. If you see something you like on this site, please contact me. If the piece you wish to acquire has already been sold or is on loan to a gallery, bookstore or museum, I will be happy to create an original piece for you personally.
Thank you for your time, and enjoy the gallery.
